Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an accomplished Manufacturing Engineer with a strong background in steel components and assemblies to drive manufacturability improvements from concept to design release. You will collaborate with suppliers, review critical drawings, and lead cost-reduction initiatives while ensuring design readiness and process capability.

The role requires proficiency in SolidWorks, PLM environments, and a strategic mindset to optimize manufacturing technologies across diverse OEM sectors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline with 10+ years in steel manufacturing/industrialization.
• 5+ years in design for manufacturing and steel processes.
• Experience with large OEM customers in renewable energy, automotive, consumer electronics, or industrial manufacturing (solar tracker a plus).
• Experience with steel fabrication processes (roll forming, stamping, welding, casting, laser cutting, machining, coating/finishing, assembly, automation).

Responsibilities

• Participate in product development from concept through design release, providing manufacturability input.
• Partner with suppliers to obtain DFM feedback and capability constraints.
• Review drawings, specs, revisions; identify manufacturability risks and propose solutions.
• Support design release gates with recommendations on manufacturability, cost drivers, and supplier readiness.
• Lead or drive innovation in manufacturing technologies and readiness for steel/industrial processes.
• Plan prototype builds, supplier trials, and on-site validations; verify key dimensions.
• Lead cost-reduction initiatives across steel products by identifying cost drivers and engineering solutions.
