Job summary

UST is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Java & Spring) to build scalable cloud-native applications within an Agile/DevOps environment for a strategic banking project. Hybrid work requires three days per week at central Madrid offices.

You will design, develop, test, deploy, and monitor mission-critical software, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and champion quality through TDD/BDD and automated testing, while aligning with enterprise architecture and CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong experience in Java and Spring Boot.
• Solid understanding of SOA and RESTful APIs.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Helm.
• Knowledge of cloud-native deployment (Azure preferred).
• Experience with GitLab, Jenkins, and CI/CD practices.
• Strong DevOps mindset and automated testing (TDD/BDD).
• Experience in Agile teams and excellent communication skills.

Hybrid model: Attendance at the client's offices in central Madrid 3 days per week is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate within cross-functional Agile teams following a DevOps-centric delivery model.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, release, and monitor business-critical applications.
• Participate actively in code reviews and champion software quality best practices.
• Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver valuable solutions.
• Partner with Solution Architects to design scalable and maintainable software aligned with enterprise architecture guidelines.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and service-oriented solutions.
• Implement automated testing strategies using TDD and BDD practices.
• Deploy and manage applications in Kubernetes-based environments.

Mandatory Requirements

• Strong experience in Java development and Spring Boot.
• Solid understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and RESTful APIs.
• Experience working with Oracle SQL databases.
• Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes , Docker , and Helm.
• Knowledge of cloud‑native application deployment and management, preferably in Azure environments.
• Experience with GitLab , Jenkins, and CI/CD practices.
• Strong understanding of DevOps principles and automated testing.
• Proven experience working with Test‑Driven Development (TDD) and/or Behavior‑Driven Development (BDD).
• Experience participating in Agile software development teams.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• C1 English level.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Kafka and event‑driven architectures.
• Knowledge of Avro serialization.
• Experience working with OpenAPI specifications.
• Familiarity with UML modeling techniques.
• Experience within financial services or banking environments.
• Passion for software craftsmanship, engineering best practices, and continuous improvement.
