UST España & Latam is seeking a Senior Java Developer with a DevOps mindset to build robust APIs and scalable services for a global financial services project. The role offers 100% remote work for candidates based in Spain and requires strong Java, Spring Boot, and distributed systems experience.

You will join a cross-functional SRE team applying reliability principles to ensure highly available, secure, and resilient applications.

Qualifikationen

• 6+ years of experience as Developer in Operations.
• Production-grade API development using Java & Spring Boot.
• Strong understanding of SOLID, SOA, REST and HTTP.
• Experience with microservices on container orchestration.
• Familiarity with API testing tools such as Wiremock, Pact, Postman and Cucumber.
• Knowledge of OAuth authentication/authorization and distributed tracing.
• CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins; IaC basics.

What Are We Looking For?

We are seeking a Senior Java Developer with strong software engineering expertise and a DevOps mindset to build and maintain efficient, scalable, and reliable software solutions. The ideal candidate enjoys creating robust APIs, distributed systems, and best-practice frameworks that enable teams to deliver high-quality applications. You’ll work on a global customer project in the financial services sector—a leading provider of credit cards, auto loans, banking, and savings accounts.

Location: 100% Remote for candidates based in Spain.

Language: English is a must. Spanish desirable.

On-call support: Paid 24/7 on-call rotation. One week on-call every 5-6 weeks with compensation for on-call hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Work as part of a SRE cross-functional group of engineers in applying Site Reliability Engineering principles to in-house developed front-end applications.
• Have a clear oversight on how managed systems relate to each other, with autonomy to continuously iterate improvements to achieve highly available, fault tolerant applications.
• Identify, troubleshoot and pre-empt operational issues being able to understand and modify code.
• Preserve the platform health and implement tech compliance
• Drive engineering best practice (e.g, Operational Excellence, Security, Quality, Resilience etc.) and set standards across the team.
• Estimate, scope and plan your work within an agile environment.
• +6 years of experience as Developer in Operations
• Production-grade experience of developing and managing API’s using Java & Springboot.
• Excellent understanding of SOLID principles, SOA, HTTP and REST.
• Production experience running microservices on container orchestration architectures.
• Passionate about API testing utilising tools similar to Wiremock, Pact, Postman and Cucumber.
• Good understanding of API authentication and authorisation mechanisms like OAuth.
• Understand the concept of distributed tracing and have some experience working with logging tools
• Basic knowledge of infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipeline management via Jenkins.
• Strong experience in back-end architectural and design patterns.
• Good knowledge of distributed systems at backend with a proven track record in Performance, Scalability, and Resiliency.
• Advanced English level (B2+/C1)
• Java: Core Java, Spring Boot, Spring Framework
• DevOps & CI/CD: Enterprise Jenkins, Gradle, Maven, GitHub, Infrastructure as Code
• Testing: Unit Testing, API Testing, Acceptance Testing, Load Testing (JMeter, similar tools)
• Cloud: AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, EC2) – desired skill
• Containerization: Docker (nice to have)
• Practices: Automated Testing, Observability, Secure-by-Default Delivery, SDLC Best Practices
• Additional: TDD/BDD, Serverless Technologies, AWS Certification (nice to have)

Work Schedule

Business Hours. No intensive working days on Friday or during summer.
