Job summary

UST España & Latam is seeking a highly skilled Java Engineer to join a project with a global financial services leader. You will design, build and maintain scalable API-based systems in a DevOps culture, owning the service from development to operation.

You will work within an Agile environment, focusing on RESTful APIs, microservices, and cloud-based architectures using AWS, Maven/Gradle, and CI/CD pipelines. Remote-friendly and team-oriented with strong emphasis on quality and scalability.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Java development and API design/building.
• Deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Solid knowledge of software design patterns and SOLID principles.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable software solutions.
• Build, own, and support applications following a DevOps approach ('you build it, you own it, you run it').
• Ensure the stability, performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
• Participate throughout the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including development, testing, code reviews, and occasional QA activities.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.
• Contribute to the achievement of product goals and business objectives defined by Product Management.
• Drive innovation within the team and actively contribute to technical improvements and best practices.
• Support and maintain distributed and event-driven systems.

Main tasks and accountabilities will be:

What do we expect from you?

Required Skills & Experience

Strong hands-on experience with Java development and API design/building.

Deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Solid knowledge of software design patterns and SOLID principles.

Experience with:

• Unit Testing
• API Testing
• Acceptance Testing
• Load Testing
• Knowledge of Microservices Architecture (MSA) and/or Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).
• Experience with event-driven architectures.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs.
• Experience with Maven and/or Gradle.
• Experience using Jenkins for CI/CD.
• Experience working in Agile environments such as Scrum or SAFe.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Nice to Have

• Experience in highly regulated industries, especially banking or financial services.
• Experience with AWS cloud services.
• Docker knowledge.
• Experience with AWS Lambda, AWS Fargate, and other serverless technologies.
• Experience with TDD (Test-Driven Development) and BDD (Behavior-Driven Development).
• AWS Certifications.
