Springer Nature invites an Associate or Senior Editor with environmental sciences expertise to join Communications Sustainability. The role focuses on selecting and developing manuscripts and broadening coverage of sustainability research across the environmental sciences.

We welcome candidates with research in environmental change, monitoring, pollution, climate adaptation, and cross-disciplinary insights. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Madrid or other listed offices.

Formación

• PhD level research experience in environmental sciences, with strengths in analytical or computational methods applied to sustainability.
• Editorial experience, postdoctoral experience, and broad training will be an advantage.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and fluency in English (written and spoken).
• Ability to demonstrate breadth of interest in scientific research across disciplines.
• Ability to read and assess novelty, context, and implications of research submitted to the journal.

Responsabilidades

• Select manuscripts for publication with editorial oversight within the journal's policy.
• Perform critical scientific evaluation and comprehension of submissions.
• Assess manuscripts and make quality decisions on suitability for publication.
• Help authors sharpen titles and abstracts to improve accessibility.
• Communicate effectively and write for scholarly audiences.
• Ensure accepted manuscripts move to production in a complete state.
• Contribute to editorial content for special projects as agreed with the Chief Editor.
• Help recruit, train and engage external editors.
• Attend conferences and visit research institutions as appropriate.
• Advise on advertising and marketing as required.
• Assist in drafting press releases when relevant.
• Collaborate with teams to advance journal goals.
