Job summary

AECOM's Transportation team in Madrid is seeking a Senior Hydraulic Engineer to lead drainage design for major infrastructure projects, delivering high-quality solutions across project lifecycles.

You will review studies, supervise hydraulic modelling, coordinate with international teams, and mentor junior staff. Fluency in English and a strong background in Civil 3D/OpenRoads/OpenRail, GIS, and hydraulic software are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Civil Engineering.
• Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• More than 7 years of experience in the design and delivery of linear infrastructure projects, including highways, railways, and transportation corridors.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D and/or OpenRoads / OpenRail.
• Knowledge of GIS platforms, including ArcGIS and QGIS.
• Experience using HEC-RAS, Infoworks for hydraulic and flood modelling studies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Fluent English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the design of drainage systems for highways, railways, airports and other infrastructure projects.
• Review and validate hydrological and hydraulic studies.
• Coordinate and supervise hydraulic modelling activities using a range of specialised software tools and modelling packages.
• Manage collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in international environments, ensuring effective integration across all disciplines.
• Review and approve technical documentation in both Spanish and English, ensuring compliance with quality standards and project requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior professionals and design teams.
