STAAR Surgical is expanding its team in Spain, seeking a Senior Clinical Application Specialist to enhance clinical support and training for ICL technologies. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Optometry and 8-10+ years of experience in surgical environments.

Senior Clinical Application Specialist Iberia 100%

This position is designed to strengthen clinical excellence and customer support. You will act as a key clinical expert and trusted partner for surgeons, clinics, and internal stakeholders, ensuring excellent clinical adoption and technical support for STAAR’s ICL technologies across the region.

Job Description
  • Deliver on‑site and remote product and clinical training to surgeons, optometrists, and clinic staff
  • Lead ICL certification processes and provide proctoring support where required
  • Conduct educational workshops and clinical training sessions at designated centers
  • Support surgeons throughout their learning curve to ensure proper clinical application of ICL technology
  • Provide advanced technical and clinical support for ICL calculations, medical inquiries, and complex complaints
  • Act as key contact person for follow‑up on selected medical inquiries and complaint cases within Iberia
  • Support the clinical adoption of new products and innovations across the territory
  • Collaborate closely with Medical Affairs, Marketing, Regulatory and field teams to ensure alignment on scientific and clinical content
  • Perform regular customer site visits, maintain close relationships with surgeons and clinical teams, and document activities accordingly
  • Participate in regional and national congresses, meetings, and educational events
Your profile
  • Bachelor’s degree and proven background in Optometry, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 8–10+ years of experience in clinical practice and/or surgical environments
  • Previous experience in a similar clinical support or application specialist role within the past years
  • Strong background working with surgeons, operating rooms, and clinical settings
  • Fluent in Spanish as well as in English, both spoken and written, paired with the ability to adapt communication styles across different stakeholder levels and build trustful relationships
  • Strong presentation, communication, and training skills
  • Professional and customer‑oriented mindset with a highly organized, proactive, and results‑driven approach
