Job summary

Electronic Arts in Madrid seeks a Senior Reverse Engineer to perform anti-cheat assessments across PC, mobile, and consoles. You will review thick clients and network-based cheating, report findings, and develop automated tools within the SPEAR team.

You will collaborate with EA game teams to reduce cheat classes, and contribute to pre-release assessments with architecture-driven scoping and test cases.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of ARM architecture.
• OS internals for Windows, Android & Linux.
• OS fundamentals (processes, threads, virtual memory).
• Read x86/x64 assembly language.
• Experience with debuggers such as WinDbg, x64dbg, OllyDbg, or gdb.
• Experience with disassemblers such as Ghidra, IDA Pro, Binary Ninja, or radare2.
• Understand three or more of C++, C#, Java, or .NET CIL.
• Knowledge of cryptography and obfuscation techniques.
• Drive change across the SPEAR organisation.

Responsibilities

• Reverse Engineer obfuscated user-mode and kernal-mode cheats for PC, mobile and consoles.
• Document and report on the functionality of the cheats you've analysed.
• Solve well-defined technical problems in the cheating space.
• Use architecture and design documentation to create anti-cheat assessment scoping documents.
• Perform anti-cheat assessments of pre-release products.
• Consult with us and advise EA game teams on how to reduce classes of cheats.
• Develop tools, scripts, and extensions for automation and reverse engineering, both in user space and kernel space.
• Identify cheat variants that defeat previous mitigations.
