Job summary

Skydweller Aero Inc. is seeking a Senior Actuation Engineer to own the actuation products and the actuation capabilities of our solar-powered unmanned aircraft.

You will manage requirements, architecture, trade studies, design, supplier relationships, verification and installation, whether the actuator stands alone or integrates with the aircraft. The role requires leading design teams, conducting trade studies, and ensuring alignment of requirements and verification across product and aircraft

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical or Mechatronics engineering.
• 8+ years in aerospace/defense designing motion control or actuation systems.
• Experience owning electromechanical actuator design from requirements to verification.
• Hands-on hardware verification testing experience.
• Experience integrating software and hardware in flight-critical systems.
• Strong knowledge of motors, motor controllers, gearboxes.
• Experience managing suppliers or customers.
• Fluent English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Act as responsible engineer for actuation products and aircraft actuation capabilities.
• Own design and changes of an electromechanical actuator system.
• Perform trade studies of actuation approaches for actuators and control surfaces.
• Derive and maintain requirements with traceability to design and verification.
• Define actuator architecture and interfaces with the aircraft.
• Perform preliminary design for make/buy decisions on actuators and motors.
• Direct mechanical and electrical designers during detailed design.
• Manage subcontractors from contracting to delivery.
• Work with customers on requirements, interfaces, and in-service support.
• Define and close verification for actuator subsystems and tests.
• Create installation and checkout procedures for actuator products.
