Job summary

Skydweller Aero Inc. is seeking a Senior Actuation Engineer to own actuation product requirements and the aircraft integration interfaces for solar-powered unmanned aircraft.

This role covers architecture, verification, supplier management, and customer support across the aircraft and actuator subsystems. The successful candidate will lead design activities from requirement derivation to verification, coordinate with hardware and software teams, and ensure safety-critical integration across

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering field.
• 8+ years in aerospace/defense with motion control or actuation systems.
• Proven ownership of electromechanical actuators from requirements to verification.
• Hands-on hardware verification experience for aerospace systems.
• Experience integrating software and hardware in flight-critical systems.
• Strong knowledge of motors, drivers, gears, and actuators.
• Experience managing suppliers and working with customers.
• Fluent English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Act as the responsible engineer for actuation products and aircraft actuation capabilities.
• Own design changes of complete electromechanical actuators (motor, transmission, interfaces).
• Perform trade studies of actuation approaches for actuators and flight surfaces.
• Derive and maintain the requirements baseline with traceability.
• Define actuator architecture and interfaces with the aircraft.
• Conduct preliminary design and support make/buy decisions.
• Direct mechanical and electrical designers during detailed design.
• Manage subcontractors through requirements, testing and delivery.
• Collaborate with customers on requirements, interfaces and integration.
• Define and close verification for actuators and subsystems, including tests.
• Create installation and checkout procedures for actuators on aircraft.
