Job summary

Ethos is seeking a motivated Compliance Officer to join a remote-first legal team in Spain. You will develop and manage the company’s compliance program, oversee audits and investigations, and advise on regulatory changes to ensure full adherence to GDPR, AML/KYC, and related frameworks.

The role emphasizes proactive risk management, strong communication with senior stakeholders, and delivering training to staff. This is a full-time remote position with national scope within Spain.

Qualifications

• Requires a law degree or related field with compliance training.
• Minimum 4 years in a compliance role, preferably corporate/legal or consultancy.
• Strong knowledge of GDPR, AML/KYC and related regulations.
• Experience in internal investigations and audits.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to explain complex concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s compliance program to meet legal/regulatory requirements.
• Conduct regular compliance audits and risk assessments to identify non-compliance.
• Investigate reported breaches and implement corrective actions.
• Design and deliver compliance training for all staff levels.
• Stay updated on legislation and regulatory changes and advise the business accordingly.
• Manage relationships with regulators and respond to inquiries.
• Prepare compliance reports for senior management and the board.
• Promote a culture of compliance across the organization.
