Volpak in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, Spain, is seeking a Software Engineer in the R&D department to develop machine software for packaging equipment, including PLC, HMI interfaces and safety features.

You will perform automation design, customize software from a standard platform, commission machines at customer sites, train technicians, and support the service team, with travel up to 20%, and fluency in English and Spanish.

About the Role

As a Software Engineer within the R&D department, you will be developing Machine hardware projects to develop new machines.

Main responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out the automation design of a packaging machine.
• Based on a standard software platform, developing customized software programs for the machine according to customer specifications (PLC, HMI interfaces & Safety).
• Performing the commissioning and start-up process of the machine at the VOLPAK’s worksite.
• Developing new software platforms and implement innovative motion and automation techniques according to customer requirements.
• Preparing the guidelines and documentation for machine operation.
• Completing projects by training and guiding technicians. Support the service team.
• Contributing to the team effort by accomplishing technical, functional, and quality goals.

The position will be based in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, Spain.

What You Need to Be Successful

• Degree in Software or Automation Engineering and at least 5 years of experience in industrial automation.
• Experience in motion control, configuration, programming and commissioning of servo drives, and CAM synchronization.
• Knowledge on PLC programming language (B&R, ROCKWELL LOGIX).
• Knowledge of programming techniques based in IEC 61.131-3 standard (high level), modular programming, and SCADA systems is a plus.
• Strong focus on innovation and software development.
• Good command of English and Spanish.
• Good understanding of customer needs.
• Availability to travel (max. 20%)
