Macadam is seeking a QA Engineer to build and maintain automation for our React Native app and TypeScript backend. You will bridge manual QA and deployment, ensuring quality in a fast-growing startup with a focus on scalable tests.

You'll design end-to-end test flows (Maestro preferred) and integrate tests into CI/CD using GitHub Actions, partnering with engineers to improve testability and reliability for millions of users. Hybrid in Barcelona office, international team.

Formación

• 3+ years of QA Engineering with a strong automation focus.
• Experience testing React Native apps and REST APIs.
• Familiarity with Maestro or strong interest to master it.
• Proficient in TypeScript and CI/CD tooling.

THE ROLE

Working at Macadam as our QA Engineer, you will be the technical architect of our automated testing suites. Your mission is to bridge the gap between manual QA and deployment by building a robust automation layer for our React Native app and our TypeScript backend. You will play a key role in maintaining our rapid release cycle while safeguarding the user experience for millions.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Mobile Automation (Maestro): Design, implement, and maintain end-to-end (E2E) automated test flows for our React Native application using Maestro.
• Backend Testing (TypeScript): Develop and manage automated API integration tests using TypeScript to ensure the stability of our RESTful services.
• CI/CD Integration: Integrate automated suites into our CI/CD pipelines to ensure every pull request is validated before hitting production.
• Test Strategy & Execution: Define which features require automation vs. manual exploration, focusing on high-impact regression and smoke tests.
• Technical Collaboration: Partner with Software Engineers to improve app testability (e.g., optimizing test, mocking data) and participate in technical design reviews.
• Monitoring & Quality Reporting: Analyze test results, investigate failures, and provide clear, actionable feedback to the product and engineering teams.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• Experience: 3+ years in QA Engineering with a heavy focus on Automation.
• Mobile Expertise: Strong experience testing React Native apps. Hands-on experience with Maestro is highly preferred (or deep expertise in Appium/Detox and a desire to master Maestro).
• Backend Proficiency: Solid coding skills in TypeScript and extensive experience testing REST APIs.
• Tooling: Familiarity with modern CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, etc.) and bug tracking systems.
• Fast-Paced Mindset: Comfortable in a high-growth startup environment where speed and quality must coexist.
• Communication: Fluent in English; you are clear, concise, and proactive in identifying potential bottlenecks.
