Job summary

Vercel is seeking a Director of Trust & Safety Engineering to lead a multidisciplinary team protecting the platform, developers, and end users. You will design scalable systems against abuse, fraud, and platform attacks while driving safety programs across the organization.

Role reports to the CTO, Security. In-office anchor days are Monday, Tuesday, and Friday at our San Francisco HQ. Location-specific details will be shared by the recruiting team.

Qualifications

• Extensive leadership experience in security or trust and safety.
• Proven track record building and scaling safety programs.
• Experience in fraud detection and abuse prevention.
• Ability to partner with product, legal, and finance teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering teams that design, build, and operate trust and safety systems.
• Develop detection pipelines for fraud and abuse, including AI-generated activity.
• Build defenses against billing abuse, compromised accounts, and resource misuse.
• Embed safety capabilities into developer workflows and platform architecture.
• Create automated enforcement and remediation workflows in real time.
• Drive data strategy for trust signals and anomaly detection.
• Collaborate with Legal, Support, and Policy teams on compliance.
