Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Production Chemist for a leading oil and gas service provider based in Queenstown, Eastern Cape, South Africa. The role focuses on hands-on laboratory work, field support, and development of chemical treatments to optimize production.

The successful candidate will analyze production fluids, monitor treatment performance, and collaborate with engineers to maximize asset performance while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related science and at least 4 years in production chemistry.
• Minimum 4 years' experience in oil & gas production chemistry.
• Strong knowledge of analytical techniques and instrumentation for fluid analysis.
• Experience with corrosion monitoring, scale inhibition, and demulsification.
• Excellent laboratory skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Willingness to work on-site in Queenstown and travel as needed.
• Good problem-solving and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze production fluids to determine composition and contaminants.
• Develop chemical treatment programs for production enhancement, corrosion control, scale inhibition, and demulsification.
• Conduct laboratory testing to evaluate chemical performance.
• Monitor effectiveness of treatments and adjust as needed.
• Troubleshoot emulsion, scaling, or corrosion issues and provide solutions.
• Collaborate with engineers and field teams to implement strategies.
• Maintain records of results and dosages.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Prepare technical reports and recommendations for clients.
