Starr Insurance Companies in Madrid is seeking an Aviation Underwriter to support new and existing business across Iberia. You will handle pre-underwriting tasks, manage broker relationships, and assist day-to-day Marine activities to grow the regional book.

You will analyse claims data, ensure accurate documentation, and contribute to the development of local wordings with the UW team in UK/Continental Europe, delivering timely and contract-accurate outcomes.

Formación

• Knowledge of Marine market insurance book and risk appetite.
• Knowledge of standard Marine wording and clauses and reinsurance practices.
• Knowledge of Aviation class of business desirable.
• Up-to-date knowledge of claims to inform underwriting decisions.
• Understanding of Business Plan.

Responsabilidades

• Fully understand the risk & seek further clarity as required.
• Analyse claims experience to project future potential results.
• Obtain sign-off for all business that is in excess of agreed authority levels or where any factor falls below rating guidelines.
• Ensure underwriting documentation is accurate, complete, up-to-date and meet Starr’s standards.
• Ensure policy wordings & clauses are slip referenced and agreed.
• Ensure accounts are contract certain at binding.
• Develop broker relationships & optimize opportunities to lead business.
• Reconcile and report all premiums due versus received to manage credit control.
• Ensure all bound, quoted, working and declined risks are logged as per guidelines.
• Ensure the file is complete with all relevant documents and obtain outstanding items.
