Description

Are you passionate about shaping the future of work? Do you thrive in complex, fast-paced environments where no two days look the same? Then this might be the role for you.

We're looking for an Employee Relations / Labor Relations Manager to join our German EXR Team – a diverse, high-energy group united by a shared mission: making Amazon Earth's Best Employer and Earth's Safest Place to Work.

In this role, you'll be at the intersection of people strategy and business impact. You'll partner with site leadership teams and regional Operations leaders to develop and implement labor relations strategies that foster constructive, transparent, and forward-looking relationships with employee representatives. You'll also provide strategic counsel on broader labor activities that shape the external landscape – helping Amazon navigate complexity with confidence and clarity.

What You’ll Do
  • Own the labor relations strategy for your scope within German Operations – from concept to execution, working closely with site teams and senior leaders.

  • Advise and guide site leadership on employee representation matters, ensuring Amazon engages constructively and in line with its values.

  • Develop proactive approaches to emerging labor dynamics, helping the business stay ahead of the curve rather than reacting to it.

  • Build trusted partnerships across HR, Legal, Internal Communications, and Public Relations to ensure aligned and effective messaging – both internally and externally.

  • Champion employee engagement by ensuring fair, consistent, and transparent processes are embedded in everything we do.

  • Support programs and projects that strengthen the relationship between Amazon and its employee representatives, fostering dialogue and mutual respect.

About the Team

Our EU Ops EXR Team operates in a matrix structure across the EU region. We work in a culture of openness, trust, and – yes – fun. We believe that great employee relations start with great teamwork, and we bring curiosity, resilience, and a healthy dose of humor to everything we do.

You'll be part of a team that travels, collaborates across borders, and tackles some of the most interesting challenges in the European labor relations landscape.

About the Business Area

Your primary focus will be on Operations – the beating heart of Amazon's customer promise. Every fulfillment center, every delivery station, every sortation facility exists to serve our customers. Your role is to enable these business lines by creating a workplace environment that earns the title “Earth's Best Employer” – one where employees feel heard, respected, and empowered.

This is a full-time position that will require some travel, up to 40% of the time over the course of the year mainly in Germany.

A day in the life

The day-to-day working life of an ER Manager will be ever changing. One day, you will be on-site supporting the local Leadership Team, may it be during a period of change, a period of works council elections, while labor activities are ongoing or other. The next day, you will be supporting projects relevant for all sites of the business line(s) you are supporting and work with colleagues from the EU ER Team which support your line of business in other countries. You will be embedded in a fun-to-work with team and as such also get your share in reaching our team goals and work on DE-wide projects covering all lines of business.

About the team

The DE, AT, NL EXR team currently consists of 10 members with varying backgrounds - Operations, PXT and L&E Legal and tenure from one year to 13+ years within Amazon. We foster an honest and open communication style and we always have each other's back.

Basic Qualifications
  • Experience in employee relations, labor relations, human relations or labor/employment law

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree, law degree, or other specialized training in employee/labor relations.

  • Experience in change management and negotiation.

  • Proficient in both written and spoken German and English (CEFR, C1)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience analyzing metrics and assessing employee sentiment data to find root causes and develop short-, medium- and long-term plans

  • Strong interpersonal and persuasion skills, enabling individual to establish partnerships and work collaboratively across management levels and personalities to influence senior leadership, stakeholders, peers and employees at all levels across a large, dispersed and culturally diverse organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully navigate complex, international organizational structures.
