Starr Insurance Companies in Madrid is seeking an Aviation Underwriter to support new and existing business with precise pre-underwriting tasks and to assist the Marine team across Iberia. You will develop broker relationships, review risks, and ensure accurate documentation in line with Starr’s standards.

The role requires English fluency; knowledge of Marine and Aviation line, plus willingness to collaborate with UW teams in UK and Continental Europe.

Qualifications

Knowledge of Marine market insurance book of business and risk appetite.
Knowledge on standard Marine market wordings and clauses and reinsurance practices.
Knowledge of Aviation class of business desirable.
Up-to-date knowledge of claims to inform future underwriting decisions.
Understanding of Business Plan.

Responsabilités

Fully understand the risk and seek further clarity as required.
Develop broker relationships and optimize opportunities to lead business.
Reconcile and report all premiums due versus received to manage credit control.
Ensure underwriting documentation is accurate, complete, up-to-date and meets Starr’s standards.
Follow up on outstanding quotes and renewals with brokers.
Conduct QA within 2 working days of binding or inception to check underwriting data accuracy.
