Qualifications

• 10–15 years of underwriting experience required.
• Advanced knowledge of specific classes of business and reinsurance practices.
• Up-to-date knowledge of claims to inform underwriting decisions.
• Understanding of Business Plans.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite profitable business in accordance with business plans.
• Fully understand the risk and seek further clarity as required.
• Adhere to underwriting standards and manuals.
• Obtain sign-off for business above authority or below rating guidelines.
• Adhere to rating tools and guidelines.
• Ensure underwriting documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
• Ensure policy wordings and clauses are properly referenced.
• Conduct QA within 2 working days of binding or inception.
• Develop broker and client relationships to maximise opportunities.
• Reconcile premiums due vs. received and manage credit control.
• Plan and develop local wordings aligned to market characteristics.
• Monitor portfolio performance against business plans.
