The UNOPS Global Portfolios Office (GPO) supports partners in delivering global impact through diverse expertise, focusing on sustainable development, climate action, and peacebuilding. Operating across over 130 countries, GPO collaborates with governments and international institutions on project and fund management. This role specifically supports the UN Global Service Centre (UNGSC) by providing specialized technical services for hybrid cloud, platform management, and global identity infrastructure.

Job purpose

The ICT Senior Associate, acting as a Public Cloud and Identity Technician, supports the UN Secretariat's 'Unite Cloud' environment and global identity infrastructure under the guidance of UNOPS management. The role is crucial for operationalizing, supporting, and integrating public cloud services and identity and access management solutions. This includes developing and maintaining infrastructure as code and automation to ensure reliable service delivery, security, compliance, and technical sustainability. The position directly contributes to enhancing the resilience, security, and operational efficiency of digital operations for UN entities and field missions, supporting the responsible adoption of emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include providing comprehensive support for the UN Secretariat's public cloud services (Unite Cloud), ensuring its implementation, operation, and maintenance align with hybrid cloud strategies. This involves coordinating workload onboarding, monitoring performance and capacity, and assisting with security baselines and compliance controls. The role also entails supporting the design, implementation, and maintenance of hybrid identity platforms, managing identity lifecycle processes, and integrating applications with the global identity infrastructure. Furthermore, the ICT Senior Associate will develop and maintain automation scripts and infrastructure as code for deployment and configuration, support pilot initiatives for service improvement, and contribute to monitoring and reporting tools. Participation in a duty roster for on-call support and incident response is also required.

Education

A secondary school diploma with 7 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience is required. Desirable qualifications include professional certifications in public cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud), identity and access management, or infrastructure as code and automation (e.g., Terraform).

Work experience

Required experience includes systems engineering, infrastructure support, integration, or technical implementation within a multi-cloud, multi-customer, complex environment (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud). Experience with hybrid identity and access management platforms (e.g., Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory) is also essential. Desirable experience includes automation using scripting and infrastructure as code tools (e.g., PowerShell, Terraform) and working in distributed, international teams.
