UNOPS is seeking an ICT Officer in Valencia to deliver reliable private cloud, private AI, PaaS, and public cloud services within the Platform Support Unit. You will ensure secure, scalable infrastructure and automation practices across engineering processes, with 24/7 on-call support to maintain mission-critical platform services.

Qualifications

• Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in IT, CS, engineering, or related field; zero years of experience required.
• Alternatively, a first-level university degree (Bachelor's or equivalent) with two years of relevant experience.

Responsabilités

• Design, deploy, operate, and maintain private cloud infrastructure (compute, storage, virtualization) for performance and resilience.
• Deploy, operate, and optimize the private AI platform, including GPU-accelerated infra and MLOps tooling.
• Support on-premises PaaS offerings (container orchestration, databases).
• Design, implement, and manage public cloud environments, optimize consumption, and support hybrid connectivity.
• Develop infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring solutions; provide 24/7 on-call support and contribute to change management.

Organizational context: The UNOPS Global Portfolios Office (GPO) supports sustainable development, climate action, and peacebuilding globally. The Department of Operational Support (DOS) within GPO manages ICT infrastructure for UN missions and headquarters. This role is within the Service for Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies (SGITT) at the UN Global Service Centre (UNGSC), providing specialized technical support for hybrid cloud and platform management.

Job purpose: The ICT Officer will provide reliable, secure, and efficient private cloud, private AI, PaaS, and public cloud services within the Platform Support Unit at the UN ICT Facility in Valencia. This role ensures that engineering processes, automation practices, and operational tools are applied consistently with industry standards and UNGSC objectives. The incumbent supports the coordinated delivery and 24/7 operation of platform services, enabling client entities to confidently deploy and run their applications and AI workloads. The position is crucial for maintaining robust, fault-tolerant, and scalable ICT infrastructure essential for UN operations, especially in challenging environments.

Responsibilities: The ICT Officer is responsible for designing, deploying, operating, and maintaining private cloud infrastructure, including compute, storage, and virtualization, ensuring performance and resilience. They will deploy, operate, and optimize the private AI platform, including GPU-accelerated infrastructure and MLOps tooling. Support will be provided for on-premises PaaS offerings like container orchestration and databases. The role involves designing, implementing, and managing public cloud environments, optimizing consumption, and supporting hybrid connectivity. Additionally, the incumbent will develop infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, and implement monitoring solutions, providing 24/7 on-call support for incident resolution and contributing to change management processes.

Education: An advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in IT, computer science, engineering, or a related field with zero years of experience is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (Bachelor's or equivalent) with two years of relevant experience is acceptable. Desired certifications include public cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), identity and access management, and infrastructure as code/automation (Terraform).

Work experience: Required experience includes DevOps, cloud engineering, or infrastructure and platform management. This also covers experience with open-source AI/ML platforms and GPU-accelerated infrastructure, managing private cloud environments with open-source virtualization, and supporting infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring tools. Desired experience includes public cloud environments, containers, on-premises PaaS, and working within the UN system.
