Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Transmission & Distribution Technical Lead in Madrid to drive HV/EHV substation projects, delivering safe, reliable and compliant engineering solutions. You will be the technical authority across project phases and guide multidisciplinary teams with a strong emphasis on governance and quality.

Lead the design, protection & control work, coordinate with clients and stakeholders, and shape engineering strategies for large-scale infrastructure programs across AIS/GIS substations.

Qualifications

• Degree in electrical engineering.
• Experience in HV primary substation engineering including protection and control engineering.
• Experience delivering large transmission or distribution substation projects across multiple phases.
• Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership and governance across engineering teams.
• Experience supporting major infrastructure programs and multidisciplinary project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership & Engineering Authority across HV/EHV projects.
• Provide technical leadership and oversight for protection and control systems in HV substation projects.
• Guide design of HV/EHV primary systems including AIS/GIS substations and busbar schemes.
• Define engineering strategies aligned with standards and client specs.
• Oversee engineering deliverables: layouts, configurations, clearances, protection schematics, relay settings.
• Ensure integration of protection, SCADA interfaces, and primary equipment.
• Lead technical design reviews and engineering assurance processes.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and clients throughout project lifecycle.
