Master’s student in HR

Descripción del empleo

Most HR students spend years learning how policies are designed, only to start their careers implementing someone else’s version of them. This internship is different: you’ll be close to the people making those decisions and involved in the work behind them.

Zeeman is a Dutch family business with around 1,350 stores in eight countries. Everything we do in HR has to work in eight different labour law systems, eight labour markets and eight sets of expectations about what an employer should be. A policy that is written in the Netherlands must make sense to a store manager in Sevilla. Watching that translation happen, and taking part in it, teaches you something about HR that a single-market company cannot.

We’re a small team in Barcelona, which means you won’t be one of many interns lost in a large structure. There’s no long chain of people between you and the work, and no internship pool where you’re one of thirty. You’ll work directly with our HR Manager and HR Advisor for Spain, gaining hands‑on exposure to the day‑to‑day work of the team.

What you will do
  • Take ownership of your own HR project, from the initial question through analysis and final delivery. This could include mapping regional processes, analyzing absence or turnover trends, or building a new tool or resource for the Spanish HR team.
  • Support day‑to‑day HR operations, including employee communications, investigations, disciplinary cases, absence management, employee records, and coordination with internal teams and external providers.
  • Prepare clear HR documentation and communications in Spanish and English, adapting content for different audiences across the business.
  • Work alongside the HR Manager and HR Advisor, supporting meetings with Regional and Store Managers as well as employee representatives, including preparation for employee relations and union discussions, organizing relevant information, and following through on agreed actions.
  • Act as a point of contact for recurring people’s questions, learning what you can resolve independently and when to escape matters that require HR or legal labour judgement.
  • Build reports, presentations, and people insights while helping ensure HR data, records, and processes remain accurate and reliable.
  • Contribute to wider HR initiatives across wellbeing, engagement, learning, internal communication, and process improvement, gaining first-hand exposure to how HR balances employee needs, legal requirements, and store operations.
What we are looking for
  • A master’s student in HR, People Management, or a closely related field, whose school can enter into an internship agreement with us for the full period.
  • Advanced Spanish and English. Both are used daily.
  • Precision. Much of this work involves records and documentation that need to be accurate.
  • Discretion. You will have access to sensitive information about colleagues that must remain within the HR team.
  • Responsibility and autonomy. Someone who can take ownership of assigned tasks, manage priorities, and follow through without needing constant supervision.
  • Someone proactive who asks questions, learns quickly, and looks for solutions rather than waiting to be told what to do. Previous HR experience is welcome, but it is not what we are selecting on.
What you get
  • Weekly one-to-one time with the HR Manager, focused on your development, work, and learning goals rather than status updates.
  • Exposure to how HR operates across ZEEMAN.
  • A completed project or piece of work that you can showcase at the end of the internship.
  • €600 per month, plus a travel allowance when business travel is required, with full registration with the Spanish Social Security system for the duration of the internship.
  • All the tools and resources you need to perform your role effectively.
Practical
  • Based in Barcelona. We work remotely and come together in person once a week, more often in your first weeks.
  • 25 to 30 hours per week, depending on what your school requires.
  • Starting from October 2026, exact date in consultation. Duration 6 months.
