Job summary

Urban Italian Group is expanding in Spain and seeks an HR Generalist to focus on operations, payroll coordination, and compliance with Spanish labour law. The role will evolve to shape employee experience, culture and development across its hospitality brands.

You will partner with General Managers and Operations Managers, manage contracts, onboarding, offboarding, and HR data while ensuring accurate payroll with our external gestoría.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as HR Generalist/HR Operations in hospitality or similar sector.
• Strong knowledge of Spanish labour law and collective agreements.
• Experience coordinating payroll with external providers.
• Fluent in Spanish and English.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day HR operations and administration across the employee lifecycle.
• Coordinate contracts, amendments, onboarding, offboarding, and documentation.
• Support payroll processes with external gestoría to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Ensure compliance with Spanish labour law, collective agreements and internal policies.
• Monitor working hours, holidays, absences, and employee records for accuracy.
• Provide HR guidance to General Managers and Operations Managers.
• Handle employee relations, disciplinary procedures and performance management.
• Maintain HR data, prepare reports, and track People metrics.
• Identify improvements to HR processes, systems and ways of working.
• Contribute to employee engagement, culture, and development initiatives as the role evolves.

The Role

As HR Generalist initially, your focus will be on HR operations, administration, payroll coordination, and ensuring compliance with Spanish labour legislation and collective agreements. As our People function continues to evolve, you'll have the opportunity to take on a broader role in shaping our employee experience, culture, engagement, and development initiatives

What you’ll be doing

• Manage day-to-day HR operations and administration throughout the employee lifecycle.
• Coordinate employment contracts, amendments, onboarding, offboarding, and employee documentation.
• Support monthly payroll processes, working closely with our external gestoría to ensure accuracy and timely delivery.
• Ensure compliance with Spanish labour legislation, collective agreements, and internal policies.
• Monitor working hours, holidays, absences, and employee records, ensuring information is accurate and up to date.
• Provide practical HR guidance and support to General Managers and Operations Managers.
• Support employee relations matters, including disciplinary procedures and performance management.
• Maintain accurate HR data, prepare reports, and monitor key People metrics.
• Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, systems, and ways of working.
• Contribute to employee engagement, workplace culture, learning and development, and employee experience initiatives as the role evolves.

You’ll thrive in this role if you

• You have previous experience in an HR Generalist, HR Operations, or similar role.
• You have experience working in hospitality, ideally within the restaurant industry.
• You have a strong understanding of Spanish labour law and collective agreements.
• You're familiar with payroll processes, HR administration, and working with external suppliers.
• You're highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
• You have a proactive, hands-on approach and enjoy finding practical solutions.
• You're comfortable working with HR systems, employee data, and reporting tools.
• You're fluent in both Spanish and English.
• Experience with Skello or similar workforce-management systems is a plus.
