Job summary

Santander is seeking a Gen AI Engineer to design, integrate, and optimize agentic AI systems with a focus on reliability and knowledge grounding. The role emphasizes Python development, LLM integration, and secure production-grade workflows.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in backend development and 2+ years in AI engineering, with strong knowledge of distributed systems, APIs, and observability. This is a Madrid-based, hybrid position offering growth and learning opportunities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in backend development.
• 2+ years of experience in AI engineering.
• Experience building and operating production-grade distributed systems, APIs, or cloud applications.
• Hands-on experience with LLM applications.
• Experience with security, testing, and observability in production.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement agentic & modular AI architectures.
• Integrate LLMs with APIs, microservices and vector databases.
• Build and optimize RAG pipelines grounding responses in knowledge.
• Define metrics and implement tracing, debugging, and monitoring.
• Implement security filters, access controls, and guardrails to prevent leakage.
• Develop MCP-based tools to extend agentic systems.
