Axpo Group is seeking a Finance Data Engineer to design and operate data products and pipelines for the Finance organisation on a Databricks-based Group Data Platform. You will develop, test and operate reusable pipelines using Python, PySpark and SQL, transforming ERP and operational data into curated, business-ready datasets.

You will ensure data quality, historisation, and auditability, and work with Finance and IT stakeholders to evolve the data landscape.

Formación

• A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering or a related field.
• Hands-on data engineering experience with Databricks or a comparable modern data platform.
• Proven Python-based data engineering solutions using PySpark and SQL.

We're looking for a Finance Data Engineer who enjoys turning complex data into reliable products that people can trust. If you like working hands-on with Databricks, Python and SQL, translating Finance needs into scalable solutions, and connecting business requirements with modern data engineering, this one’s for you.

What you will do:

· Design, build and operate modern data products and pipelines for the Finance organisation on Axpo’s Databricks-based Group Data Platform.

· Develop, test and operate reusable data pipelines using Python, PySpark and SQL.

· Transform raw source data from ERP systems, business applications and other operational systems into curated, business-ready datasets for reporting, business intelligence, analytics and operational use cases.

· Apply appropriate patterns for incremental processing, historisation, reconciliation and auditability of Finance data.

· Implement data quality rules, validation checks and reconciliation controls to ensure completeness, consistency, accuracy, timeliness and traceability.

· Document datasets, data lineage, transformations, business rules, assumptions and dependencies, ensuring reliable handover into operations.

· Work closely with Finance colleagues, product owners, IT stakeholders and platform teams to understand business requirements, source systems and data needs.

· Contribute to the evolution of the Finance data product portfolio and the modernisation of the broader Finance data landscape.

What you bring & who you are:

· A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering or a related field. Additional education or practical training in Finance, Accounting, Treasury or a related discipline is an advantage.

· Experience in data engineering or a closely related technical role, with hands‑on experience using Databricks or a comparable modern data platform.

· Practical experience developing Python-based data engineering solutions, including PySpark data pipelines, good knowledge of SQL, data transformation concepts and data modelling.

· Experience with Git-based version control and software engineering practices.

· A sound understanding of data quality, monitoring, documentation and operational support, together with a strong interest in building reusable, high-quality data products.

· Experience with Delta Lake and data modelling is a plus. Basic experience consuming APIs, such as REST APIs, and experience in the energy sector are also welcome.

· An analytical mindset, strong problem‑solving abilities and the ability to understand complex business processes and translate them into practical data solutions.

· High attention to data quality, detail and reliability, combined with a proactive, pragmatic and improvement‑oriented approach.

· Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and data‑related topics clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

· Fluent English is a must; German skills are a plus.

About the team:

This role sits at the heart of Axpo’s Finance Digital & Data team within the Group CFO Area and is based in Madrid. You’ll join a small, agile team of six working as part of Axpo’s forward‑deployed Data Platform model, bringing data engineering expertise closer to Finance and its business needs. You’ll report to the Finance Digital Head in Switzerland and work shoulder to shoulder with another Finance Data Engineer and a Finance AI Analyst in Madrid as well as a Finance Digital Analyst and the AI Stream Lead in Switzerland. While organisationally part of Group Controlling, the team works across all Finance functions—Accounting, Controlling, Treasury, Tax and Real Estate—and with stakeholders across Axpo, from corporate functions such as Group IT to the business areas. You’ll also collaborate with the wider Axpo data platform team and digital communities. knowledge sharing, and we welcome perspectives from all backgrounds and career paths.
