Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking a Field Service Engineer to install, maintain and repair complex analytical instruments for customers across research and healthcare settings in North-West Spain.

You will perform installations, preventative maintenance, and on-site repairs, while delivering excellent customer service and ensuring first-time fixes where possible. Willingness to travel within Iberia and occasionally to Portugal, the UK, or other countries is required.

Formación

  • Degree in electronic, mechanical, or biomedical engineering or equivalent.
  • Valid driving license.
  • Flexible schedule, able to travel at short notice.
  • Flexibility to travel within Iberia and occasionally to Portugal, UK or other countries.

Responsabilidades

Position Summary:

As a Field Service Engineer at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll contribute to delivering excellent service for sophisticated analytical and scientific instruments. Working with customers across research and healthcare settings, you'll install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex equipment while providing exceptional customer service. This position offers opportunities to work with advanced technology while contributing to scientific advancement and innovation.

Territory: North-West Spain

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation, configuration, and functional testing of analyzers at customer sites as required.
  • Undertake analyzer Preventative Maintenance services.
  • On-site repair and/or replacement of any faulty components (hardware/software/configuration/LIS) to restore functionality of the analyzer within the agreed timescales and in order to offer first time fix solution.
  • Technical support by phone or email to answer enquiries or solve simple problems.
  • Relocation, removal and/or reconditioning of installed devices.
  • Provide technical documentation when requested by customers.
  • Keep control of the stock of spare parts.
  • Perform stock counts for the corresponding location when required.
  • Attend national and international training courses as required.
  • Properly report the service activity (work orders, expense notes, etc.), through the company's integrated management system (ServiceMax, Concur, etc.)
  • Carry out specific projects, tasks or reports commissioned by the Manager.
  • Keep the Field Service Supervisor advised of issues and support needs.

The employee is required to use company systems, applications, and resources strictly for authorized business purposes and to safeguard their access credentials at all times, ensuring they are not shared with others. The role requires full compliance with all applicable security policies, standards, and regulatory requirements, as well as the protection of information in accordance with its classification and established handling procedures. The employee must promptly report any security incidents, vulnerabilities, or suspicious activities and actively participate in mandatory security training and awareness initiatives to support the organization’s information security posture.

Requirements
  • Degree in electronic, mechanical, or biomedical engineering or equivalent
  • Valid driving license
  • Flexible schedule, able to travel at short notice
  • Flexibility to travel within Iberia and occasionally to Portugal, UK or other countries
Knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Proven Field Service track record
  • Excellent customer service and support experience
  • Experience in the Medical devices industry, preferably with clinical analyzers
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Excellent Organizational and time management Skills
  • IT skills
  • Fluent in Spanish and English
  • Dependable and professional, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality work
