Sanoptis GmbH is seeking a Commercial Director for Bilbao (m/f/d) to lead the commercial management of our eye centers in Bilbao and Oviedo. The role is based in Bilbao with regular presence in Oviedo, offering strategic oversight, performance management, and cross-functional collaboration.

We are seeking a Commercial Director – Bilbao (m/f/d) to join our team as soon as possible. After entering Spain in 2024, we have established ourselves as the third‑largest private provider of ophthalmology care in the country, with over €100m in revenue across 5 hubs and more than 20 locations, including a recently signed and large‑scale addition to our network. Our ambition is to continue this momentum, expanding our provision of high‑quality and innovative ophthalmic care across Spain through both organic and inorganic initiatives.

As Commercial Director, you will take over the commercial management of our eye centers in Bilbao and Oviedo, leading and optimizing their business activities. This role is based in Bilbao, with regular presence on site in Oviedo. Your responsibilities include strategic oversight, performance management, team leadership, and collaboration with cross‑functional teams. Your commitment to excellence will help us achieve our business goals, increase patient satisfaction, and grow the Sanoptis presence in the region.

In this role, you will

• Lead the commercial side of our eye centers: Run the centers from a business perspective and ensure that Sanoptis standards are upheld across all sites.
• Be on the ground and understand operations: Spend full days observing live operations (diagnostics, OR flow, patient routing, reception) and write down every step that does not work.
• Own operating results and business targets: Monitor operational KPIs such as patient satisfaction, financial indicators, revenue, expenses, and profitability. Partner with the finance and accounting teams to develop and manage budgets, financial forecasts, and cost control measures.
• Define performance targets: Conduct performance reviews and set goals with your teams. Create a positive working environment that fosters performance through effective communication and collaboration.
• Shape the regional strategy: Develop regional strategic plans aligned with our overarching business goals, in close collaboration with local physicians and specialists.
• Drive growth through site development: Spot growth opportunities in your region early and turn them into profitable business. Team up with the marketing team on effective marketing and advertising strategies to increase patient volume, with the goal of expanding our market share.

You will work closely with

• The other Commercial Directors in Spain.
• Renowned specialists and leading experts in ophthalmology.
• A dedicated and qualified team of medical professionals and resident physicians.
• Interdisciplinary teams across our network, including technology experts working on the latest advances in ophthalmic treatment and digital health solutions.

Your profile includes

• Relevant professional experience in a demanding environment, e.g. in strategy consulting or a comparable high‑growth company.
• A proven ability to prepare and present business and financial analyses at management level, with meticulous attention to detail.
• An entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to take on significant responsibility and drive solutions forward. Working with little guidance is essential.
• A track record of managing stakeholders, including influencing without formal authority and securing a key role in decision‑making. You resolve conflicts constructively, even in difficult situations, and stay assertive.
• Strong organizational and process management skills.
• Native Spanish and fluent English.
• A drive to deliver results and to thrive in a fast‑paced environment with high responsibility.
