Air Products in Barcelona is seeking a Collections Specialist to join our Credit & Collections team. You will manage customer accounts and outstanding balances, collaborating with customers and internal teams to support timely payments and resolve account issues.

This role operates in an international environment with emphasis on clear communication, proactive account management, and collaboration with Customer Services and Sales. Hybrid work with three days remote per week.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English (written and spoken).
• Understanding of customer accounts and end-to-end processes.
• Basic accounting knowledge, especially customer accounting.
• Proficient with MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely collection of outstanding balances in line with policy.
• Respond to calls and emails within targets; escalate complaints.
• Make outbound collection calls to drive productivity and manage portfolio.
• Communicate with Customer Services, Sales, and customers on disputes and credit holds.
• Support fellow collectors and liaise with Team Lead on credit issues.
• Maintain logs of customer interactions and account information.

We are looking for a Collections Specialist to join our Credit & Collections organization in Barcelona. In this role, you will manage customer accounts and outstanding balances while working closely with customers and internal teams to support timely payments and effective resolution of account-related issues.

You will work in an international environment where collaboration, customer focus, clear communication, and proactive account management are key to delivering a high-quality service.

As a Collections Specialist You Will

• Ensure timely collection of outstanding customer balances in line with Air Products' Credit & Collections Escalation Policy
• Respond to customer calls and emails within department targets; identify customer complaints and elevate appropriately
• Proactively make outbound collection calls to customers to drive strong daily productivity and maintain an effective, action oriented portfolio
• Anticipate and communicate with Customer Services, Sales Representatives, and customers regarding disputed items, potential payment issues, and credit hold situations
• Support and act as backup for fellow collector associates as requiredLiaise with the Credit & Collections Team Lead on all credit related issues.
• Maintain accurate and up to date logs of individual customer interactions and account information

Required / Must have

• Fluency in English, both written and spoken
• A good understanding of customer accounts and end-to-end business processes
• Basic accounting knowledge, particularly in customer accounting
• Proficiency in MS Office applications

Preferred / Nice To Have

• Ideally have experience handling inbound and outbound calls, preferably within a Credit & Collections environment
• Strong negotiation skills, with experience engaging both customers and internal stakeholders on topics such as collections, dispute resolution, account reconciliation, and charges/payments
• Experience with SAP is an advantage, though not mandatory
