BOAT CAPTAIN | 44FT IRC OFFSHORE RACING YACHT

A 44ft IRC offshore racing yacht is seeking an experienced Boat Captain to join its professionally organised programme ahead of the 2027 season.

Launched in June 2026 and designed specifically for offshore racing, the yacht has already completed the Palermo–Montecarlo and Rolex Middle Sea races.

The 2027 programme will include the RORC series, Rolex Fastnet Race and Rolex Middle Sea Race, with potential participation in the Admiral’s Cup.

The yacht races with nine crew, predominantly experienced amateur offshore sailors, supported by two professional positions: Boat Captain and Navigator.

Working closely with the owner and wider team, the Boat Captain will take responsibility for the yacht’s day-to-day management and ensure she is fully prepared for every event. This hands‑on role combines sailing, technical maintenance and the organisation of a competitive racing programme.

Responsibilities will include:

• Managing the maintenance schedule, rig, sails, deck equipment and onboard systems
• Coordinating contractors, yard periods, berthing and deliveries
• Managing budgets, quotes and expenditure
• Organising crew travel, customs and documentation
• Coordinating training with the team’s performance coach
• Delivering the yacht between Mediterranean and UK events

Candidates should have strong IRC offshore racing experience, ideally gained while running or holding a senior role aboard a similar-sized race yacht. Excellent seamanship, technical knowledge, organisational skills and the ability to manage deliveries independently are essential.

The yacht will winter in Badalona for maintenance and training before heading to the UK for the RORC circuit and Fastnet, returning to the Mediterranean for the Middle Sea Race.
