Job summary

Freyrecruitment is seeking an experienced First Mate for a 100ft Wally performance sailing yacht based in Palma, Mallorca. The role includes leading the deck team, managing spare parts and inventories, and coordinating shipping-container logistics for regattas and cruising.

Ideal candidates have 3–4 years in the superyacht sailing industry, strong racing and offshore experience, and solid engineering and hydraulic knowledge. Excellent Excel skills for daily reports are essential.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years’ experience in superyacht sailing industry or similar
• Yachtmaster CoC and STCW certificates required
• Strong racing and offshore sailing experience essential
• Engine and hydraulic systems knowledge advantageous

Responsibilities

• Assist with technical preparation and maintenance of the yacht

FIRST MATE | 100FT SAILING YACHT

A 100ft Wally performance sailing yacht is seeking an experienced First Mate to join its race and cruising programme.

The yacht is Mediterranean-based and will spend the winter undergoing maintenance in Palma. Summer 2027 will include owner cruising and four regattas.

Candidates should have 3–4 years’ experience within the superyacht sailing industry, ideally aboard similarly sized performance yachts. Strong racing and offshore sailing experience is essential, alongside good knowledge of engineering and hydraulic systems.

The First Mate will assist with the yacht’s technical preparation and maintenance, lead the deck team and manage spare parts, equipment, inventories and shipping-container logistics.

Excellent Excel skills are essential, as the role involves maintaining detailed daily reports and accurate inventory records. Candidates must be highly organised, detail-oriented and proactive.
