The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Project Assistant (Legal Counsel) in Madrid to provide essential legal guidance to migrants at a reception facility in Spain. You will address rights, obligations, and available options while supporting documentation and access to services.

Fluency in Spanish and English is mandatory; one year of relevant experience is preferred. The role focuses on protection, case management, and coordinated services to ensure dignified treatment

Formación

• A complete university degree or higher in Law from an accredited institution.
• Fluency in Spanish and English is mandatory.
• One year of work experience in migration settings or with governmental/diplomatic authorities is advantageous.

Responsabilidades

• Provide individual and group legal guidance to beneficiaries on rights, obligations, and options in Spain.
• Conduct initial legal assessments and follow-up interviews to identify needs, vulnerabilities, and protection risks.
• Ensure accurate completion of forms, files, and databases in line with SOPs and data protection requirements.
• Record legal orientations, actions taken, and referrals confidentially and precisely.
• Prepare periodic reports, statistics, and case summaries for activity monitoring and accountability.
• Inform beneficiaries on procedures for documentation, access to public services, migration regularization, and international protection.
• Coordinate referrals to specialized legal services, free legal aid, and public bodies.
• Coordinate with protection, case management, health, psychosocial support teams for a comprehensive response.
• Maintain coordination with authorities and civil society actors; accompany beneficiaries in administrative procedures when needed.
• Identify and promptly report protection incidents and emerging needs among the assisted population.
