Job summary

Factbird is seeking an experienced IoT Solutions Engineer to join Engineering Services, focusing on hardware-software integration and data flows across customer sites in the EMEA region.

The role involves feasibility analysis, custom solution design, and end-to-end data integration using Kepware, Ignition, OPC UA, and MQTT. You will document findings and assist pre- and post-sale teams while growing scalable, repeatable processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent hands-on experience in automation/electrical/mechatronics.

Responsibilities

• Answer feasibility questions from Sales: can we connect machines, PLCs, or sensors and how.
• Design and build custom solutions: logic boxes, signal converters, IO-Link modules, EDGE flows and NX1 programs.
• Design the integration: map OT/IT environments, data sources, tag structures, transformations, and security.
• Root cause troubleshooting in live production, with high stakes.
• Document everything: runbooks, solution records, wiring guides, version control.
• Bench-test hardware before shipment, test full data flow and recovery.
• Integrate customer systems through Kepware, Ignition, OPC UA, MQTT, EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Node-RED.
• Share knowledge with Support and Solutions teams to reduce repetitive work.
• Turn repeat work into product input with a clear business case.
• Join customer calls as the technical voice with Solution Consultants and Account Managers.
