Job summary

Factbird seeks an experienced IoT Solutions Engineer to join Engineering Services in Copenhagen. You will craft custom solutions, map OT/IT environments, and troubleshoot complex production setups, supporting both pre‑ and post‑sales activities with clear documentation.

You’ll design data flows, validate feasibility with Sales, and collaborate with Cloud, FW, HW teams to deliver scalable outcomes. Strong PLC and protocol knowledge is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in automation, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• At least 5 years in industrial automation or controls engineering, including hands‑on work on the shop floor (7+ years preferred).
• Hands‑on PLC experience with at least one major vendor, e.g. Siemens, Omron, or Rockwell/Allen‑Bradley.
• Solid understanding of industrial protocols, e.g. OPC UA, Modbus, EtherNet/IP, MQTT.
• Working knowledge of sensors and signals, like digital, analog (4–20 mA, 0–10 V), IO‑Link, PNP/NPN, and energy metering.
• Root cause analysis across hardware, networks, and software in live production environments.
• Field experience commissioning or troubleshooting equipment in live plants.
• Comfortable troubleshooting site networks, e.g. IP setup, routers, SIMs, and firewalls.
• A clear communicator in English who can explain technical trade‑offs to non‑engineers.
• A strong documentation habit: when you build it, you write it down.

Responsibilities

• Answer feasibility questions from Sales: can we connect this machine, PLC, or sensor, and how
• Design and build custom solutions: logic boxes, signal converters, IO‑Link modules, EDGE flows, and Factbird powered by NX1 that fill gaps the cloud can’t handle
• Design the integration: map the customer’s OT/IT environment and plan data sources, tag structures, transformations, and security
• Root cause troubleshooting in live production
• Document everything you build and fix: runbooks, wiring guides, version and back up configurations
• Bench-test hardware before it ships and hand hardware to Logistics with a packing list
• Integrate customer systems through Kepware, Ignition, OPC UA, MQTT, EtherNet/IP, Modbus, and Node‑RED
• Share what you know: help Support, Solution Consultants, and Hardware handle more on their own
• Streamline as you go: build templates and scripts to speed deliveries
• Turn repeat workarounds into product input with a business case
