Job summary

g2 Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical / Electrical Engineer for process industry projects on a freelance basis. The role spans the full lifecycle from concept and detailed design through commissioning, start-up and client handover, across energy, oil & gas, petrochemical, marine and manufacturing sectors.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified mechanical or electrical engineer.
• Experience in process plants or related industries.
• Knowledge of pumps, valves, rotating equipment, piping, motors, switchgear, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Experience supporting FAT, SAT, commissioning, testing and start-up.
• Familiarity with industry standards and engineering documentation.

Responsibilities

• Deliver mechanical and/or electrical engineering solutions.
• Develop technical specifications, datasheets, calculations, and engineering documentation.
• Support equipment selection, procurement, and vendor management activities.
• Review supplier documentation and provide technical clarification where required.
• Participate in design reviews, safety reviews, FATs, SATs, and commissioning activities.
• Troubleshoot engineering issues and provide technical support throughout project execution.
• Coordinate with project managers, clients, suppliers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with quality, safety, budget, and schedule requirements.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing engineering organisation delivering complex industrial and process engineering projects across the energy, oil & gas, petrochemical, marine, and manufacturing sectors. Key Requirements:
