Job summary

Mane Contract Services is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Lead to direct the mechanical deliverables on a major project. You will oversee the design, installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical systems, while coordinating with Electrical and CSA teams to define interfaces and responsibilities.

You will lead a multi-discipline engineering team, mentor graduates, and report to project leadership.

Qualifications

• Take overall responsibility for mechanical engineering delivery across the project.
• Lead and manage the mechanical project engineering team, allocating engineers to appropriate work packages.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to project and graduate engineers.
• Own the mechanical design management process, either directly or through appointed discipline leads.
• Ensure mechanical systems are designed with installation, testing and commissioning requirements fully considered.
• Coordinate closely with Electrical and CSA teams to establish clear system interfaces, boundaries and responsibilities.
• Provide structured technical reporting to senior engineering and project leadership.
• Significant senior-level mechanical engineering experience on large-scale construction projects.
• Proven experience leading mechanical engineering teams and coordinating multiple work packages.
• Experience delivering complex projects in data centres, pharmaceutical, life sciences, advanced manufacturing, industrial or other mission-critical environments
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering design, installation, testing and commissioning.
• Proven experience managing mechanical systems through the full project lifecycle.
• Strong knowledge of commissioning processes, including flushing, balancing, pressure testing, FATs, SATs, walkdowns and system handover.
• Experience managing technical procurement, equipment selection and supplier evaluations.
• Strong understanding of quality processes, ITPs and test documentation.
• Experience coordinating with electrical and CSA disciplines.
• Strong understanding of project programmes, sequencing and look-ahead planning.
• Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• A practical, solutions-focused approach to engineering and project delivery.

Job description

You will lead the mechanical engineering team, coordinate closely with electrical and CSA disciplines, and work directly with clients, designers, contractors and project leadership to ensure the mechanical scope is delivered safely, efficiently, to programme and to the required quality standards.

This is a hands-on leadership position for an engineer who is comfortable making decisions, solving complex problems and taking responsibility for delivery.
