Job summary

Mercor seeks a meticulous Malayalam annotator to extract structured data from publicly available Malayalam PDFs with multimodal content. You will bound and label regions like titles, headings, paragraphs, tables, figures, and captions, and provide exact Malayalam transcriptions.

You will record reading order, ensure accuracy at the glyph level, and participate in a two-person review process to ensure quality across hundreds of pages with diverse layouts.

Qualifications

• Native Malayalam speaker with full command of the script and diacritics.
• Extremely careful with character accuracy and diacritics integrity.
• Experience in annotation, transcription, localization, or QA for documents.

Responsibilities

• Source publicly accessible Malayalam PDFs with multimodal content.
• Annotate structure: bound page regions with type and reading order.
• Record relationships between regions and parent figures/tables.
• Transcribe text exactly as Malayalam script appears, noting illegible areas.
• Capture page metadata: language, document type, source, dimensions, handwriting flags.
• Review a colleague's work in a second Malayalam expert review.
