Job summary

Mercor in Denmark is seeking meticulous Odia language annotators to build training data for complex scripts. You will source Odia PDFs with multimodal elements, bound regions, assign types, and ensure proper reading order and transcription in Odia.

You must be a native Odia speaker with a keen eye for diacritics and layout variety, willing to apply a strict, repeatable taxonomy across hundreds of pages, with second-expert reviews to guarantee accuracy.

Qualifications

• You are a native Odia speaker with full command of the Odia script, including diacritics and conjunct forms.
• You have worked with documents: annotation, transcription, localization, QA, or related tasks.
• You value character-level accuracy over speed and avoid diacritic errors.
• You apply a consistent taxonomy across hundreds of pages rather than improvising per document.
• You are comfortable with unfamiliar layouts: multi-column layouts, handwriting, diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Source publicly accessible Odia PDFs in an assigned document type, containing at least one multimodal element, and record where you obtained it.
• Annotate structure: bound every meaningful region and assign a component type and a reading-order index.
• Record relationships: link each region to the figure or table it belongs to via a parent component identifier.
• Transcribe faithfully: reproduce all text exactly as it appears in Odia script, flagging illegible regions.
• Capture page metadata: language, document type, source, page dimensions, and flags for tables, formulas and handwriting.
• Review a colleague's work: every task is reviewed end to end by a second Odia expert.
