Job summary

Mercor is seeking a native Bengali speaker to annotate and transcribe Bengali documents for training data. You will identify and bound all meaningful regions, assign types and reading order, and ensure accurate, verbatim Bengali transcription across diverse document layouts.

Attention to detail and the ability to handle multi-column layouts and handwriting is essential. Prior experience in annotation or editorial roles is advantageous, with strict quality control during peer review.

Qualifications

• Native Bengali speaker with full command of the Bengali script and orthography.
• Experience with annotation, transcription, translation, localization, subtitling, proofreading, journalism, or regional-language data review.
• Exactness and character-level accuracy are essential.

Responsibilities

• Source Bengali PDFs or documents and ensure public accessibility.
• Annotate structure by bounding meaningful regions (title, headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, figures) with types and reading-order indices.
• Record relationships by linking regions to parent figures or tables.
• Transcribe faithfully in Bengali script, noting illegible regions.
• Capture page metadata: language, document type, source, page dimensions, and indicators for tables, formulas, and handwriting.
• Review colleague work and ensure high-quality, review-ready output.
