Job summary

Metro Service in Copenhagen seeks Light Rail Operators to drive trains, assist passengers and uphold safety standards in a round-the-clock operation.

During an 8-week training, you will learn customer service, safety, ticketing and rail operations. Candidates must be 21+, have a Danish command, English proficiency, a clean record, and a valid B driving licence. This role requires commitment to all-year availability and a strong service mindset.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.

• Completed public school examination.
• Able to express yourself clearly in Danish — both orally and in writing.
• Good command of English.
• Valid driving licence (category B).
• Technical mindset and willingness to familiarise yourself with train technology.
• Service-minded; exude authority, credibility and trust.
• Willing to work around the clock — all year round.
• Medical authorisation by the Danish Civil Aviation & Railway Authority (Trafikstyrelsen).

Responsibilities

• Operate light rail train and be the face of the service.
• Ticketing and servicing passengers, as well as handling inquiries.
• Prepare light rail trains and perform basic checks for service readiness.

Light Rail Driver at Metro Service

The Light Rail Drivers are in the frontseat and the face of the new Greater Copenhagen Light Rail.

The mail responsibility of the light rail driver is operating the light rail train, but ticketing and servicing passengers, as well as preparing the light rail trains, is also part of the job. Working hours are varied, as the Greater Copenhagen Light Rail runs almost 24 hours a day, all year round.

Training and requirements:

To become a light rail driver, you must complete an 8-week training programme. Along the way, there will be a series of tests that must be passed to continue. No holidays can be taken during the training, but you will receive full pay during the entire training.

During the training you will be trained in customer service, violence prevention guidelines, communication, ticketing, general service, railway safety and of course how to drive a light rail train.

In order to become a light rail driver, you need to:

• Be at least 21 years of age
• Be able to present a criminal record
• Have completed the public school examination
• Be able to express yourself clearly and effortlessly in Danish - both orally and in writing
• Have a good command of English
• Have a valid driving licence (category B)
• Have a technical sense and a desire to familiarise yourself with train technology
