Job summary

d'Angleterre in Copenhagen is seeking a Head of Engineering to lead and develop our Engineering team and ensure flawless operation of the hotel’s technical systems.

You will oversee HVAC, electrical, plumbing, building management systems, manage budgets and CAPEX, and drive energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives. Fluent English and Danish preferred; strong leadership in hospitality operations are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience leading engineering teams in hospitality or similar complex environments.
• Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, BMS).
• Experience managing budgets and CAPEX projects.

About the Job

As Head of Engineering, you will have overall responsibility for the Engineering Department and the hotel's technical operations. Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading, developing and motivating the Engineering team.
• Ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of all technical systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, kitchen equipment, elevators and Building Management Systems (BMS).
• Developing and managing preventive maintenance programmes to maximise asset reliability and minimise operational disruption.
• Managing departmental budgets, maintenance costs and energy consumption.
• Managing external contractors, suppliers and service providers.
• Ensuring compliance with all applicable legislation, health and safety regulations, and technical standards.
• Overseeing fire protection systems, emergency preparedness and statutory inspections.
• Driving energy efficiency, sustainability initiatives and continuous operational improvements.
• Maintaining technical documentation, maintenance records and asset registers.
• Working closely with all hotel departments to ensure the Engineering function consistently supports an outstanding guest experience.

About You

You are an experienced technical leader who combines strong engineering expertise with excellent leadership and organisational skills. You hold a relevant technical qualification and have leadership experience within engineering, facilities management or technical operations, preferably within hospitality or other complex commercial environments.

You have knowledge of building systems, HVAC, electrical installations, plumbing, BMS/CTS and preventive maintenance. You have experience managing budgets, CAPEX projects and supplier relationships.

You are passionate about operational excellence, continuous improvement and sustainability. You are a confident communicator who collaborates effectively across all levels of the organisation and thrives in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.

You are fluent in English and preferably also in Danish.
