Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a leading engineering and construction organisation delivering major data centre projects in Denmark. You will coordinate mechanical installation from design through to commissioning, working with the Project Manager, design teams, contractors and site teams.

You will review specifications, produce and review installation drawings, manage RFIs, and support progress reporting.

Qualifications

• A degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years' project engineering experience in mechanical contracting.
• Experience delivering small to medium mechanical projects.
• Experience in data centres or other complex environments.
• Knowledge of mechanical building services and installations.
• Strong documentation and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate mechanical design information, drawings and documentation.
• Review project specifications, drawings and submittals.
• Produce and review installation drawings.
• Support cross-disciplinary coordination (MEP, sprinklers, structures, architecture).
• Attend handovers and technical coordination meetings.
• Identify value engineering and cost-saving opportunities.
• Manage RFIs and resolve technical queries with the design team.
• Support progress reporting and project documentation.
• Review submittals for compliance.
• Coordinate equipment and material requisitions and deliveries.
• Work with subcontractors and monitor performance.
• Carry out quality inspections, snagging and walkdowns.
• Review P&IDs and layout drawings for compliance.
• Prepare method statements and risk assessments.

Mechanical Engineer - Data Centre Projects

Are you a Mechanical Engineer with experience delivering complex construction projects?

I'm currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to join a leading engineering and construction organisation delivering major data centre and mission-critical projects in Denmark.

This is a project-focused role where you'll work closely with the Project Manager, design teams, contractors and site teams to coordinate the mechanical installation from design and engineering through to completion and commissioning.

The Role

You’ll take responsibility for the mechanical engineering activities on a major construction project, ensuring installations are properly coordinated, technically compliant and delivered to the required quality and safety standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Coordinating mechanical design information, drawings and technical documentation
• Reviewing project specifications, drawings and technical submittals
• Producing and reviewing coordinated mechanical installation drawings
• Supporting design coordination across mechanical, electrical, sprinkler, structural and architectural disciplines
• Attending project handovers and technical coordination meetings
• Identifying value engineering and cost-saving opportunities
• Managing RFIs and resolving technical queries with the design team
• Supporting the preparation of progress reports and project documentation
• Reviewing and assessing technical submittals
• Coordinating equipment and material requisitions and deliveries
• Working closely with subcontractors and monitoring their technical performance
• Carrying out quality inspections, snagging and mechanical system walkdowns
• Reviewing P&IDs and layout drawings to ensure compliance with project specifications
• Supporting the preparation and tracking of test packs through to completion
• Preparing method statements and risk assessments
• Supporting project commercial activities, including variations and material take-offs
• Maintaining accurate project records and document control
• Providing technical support and mentoring to junior engineers

About You

• A degree or 3rd-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent senior trade qualification
• 5+ years' project engineering experience within a mechanical contracting environment
• Proven experience delivering small to medium-sized mechanical projects
• Experience within data centres, pharmaceutical, commercial, industrial or other complex construction environments
• Strong understanding of mechanical building services and installation
• Experience with technical submittals, design reviews and coordinated drawings
• The ability to carry out mechanical system walkdowns and identify technical/compliance issues
• Good commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery
• Knowledge of EHS, quality and construction management processes
• Strong organisational and documentation skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
• The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment
• A proactive and analytical approach to problem solving
• Experience working with and coordinating subcontractors
• The ability to lead, influence and support others
