Job summary

Terma Group is seeking a Software Safety Engineer to shape safety strategies and influence design decisions in safety-critical systems for defense and aerospace applications.

You will lead safety software assurance activities, develop safety plans and cases, and work with V&V teams to ensure robust safety across configurations from unit to system level. English fluency required; Danish a plus.

Qualifications

• Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• For experienced roles: 5–8 years in system safety engineering for software-intensive systems.
• For senior roles: leadership in safety-critical projects and strategic decision-making.
• Experience in defense/aerospace or other safety-critical industries is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of embedded systems, real-time software, and safety-critical architectures.
• Familiarity with DOORS, Eclipse, and Visual Studio; model-based systems engineering is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety software assurance activities.
• Create Software Safety Plans, Verification & Validation Plans, and Safety Cases.
• Perform Software Hazard Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, and FMEA to ensure safety integrity.
• Ensure compliance with IEC 61508, MIL-STD-882E, DO-178C and other standards.
• Support independent safety assessments and audits of your work.
• Collaborate with V&V teams to verify safety from unit to system level.
• Maintain traceability from safety requirements to design, code and test artifacts.
• Support code reviews, static/dynamic analysis, and automated testing from a safety perspective.
• Analyze results, manage non-conformities, and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with developers, systems engineers, and hardware teams to embed safety early.
• Contribute to new tools and processes, including web-based safety management platforms.
