Job summary

Semco Maritime is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to take technical ownership of automation solutions across the project lifecycle for energy facilities, marine installations and offshore platforms. You will design PLC software, configure drives, and lead integration efforts while mentoring colleagues.

Based at our Esbjerg HQ, travel 10–30 days per year and collaborate with project managers, electrical designers and customers to deliver robust, reliable systems.

Qualifications

• At least five years of experience with PLC programming in Siemens TIA Portal.
• Experience developing automation solutions for energy, marine or offshore applications.
• Strong understanding of automation architecture, industrial networks and protocols (Profinet, Modbus TCP, CAN/J1939).
• Knowledge of energy systems, power management or hybrid solutions (ESS, shore power).
• Experience with variable-frequency drives and commissioning; knowledge of Danfoss VLT or VACON is an advantage.
• Ability to translate functional requirements into scalable, well-documented software and provide mentoring.
• Willingness to participate in commissioning and service assignments onshore and offshore.

Responsibilities

• Take technical ownership of automation solutions and define system architecture, interfaces and software structures.
• Design and develop PLC software and structured code for complex marine, offshore and energy systems.
• Develop automation solutions for BMS, PMS and hybrid energy systems (ESS, shore power, generator control).
• Integrate, configure and commission drives and motor/pump-control systems.
• Perform network and system integration across automation, electrical and third-party systems.
• Conduct FAT/SAT and commissioning activities onshore and offshore.
• Troubleshoot live systems and resolve complex issues on critical installations.
• Review and quality-assure automation designs and documentation.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and contribute to internal standards.
• Maintain technical dialogue with project management, customers and suppliers.
