Job summary

Hitachi Rail Limited seeks a Contract Manager to join the Danish Legal & Contracts team within the North, Central East Europe region and the global Legal, Contracts & Compliance organization. You will facilitate efficient coordination with internal departments and lead contractual negotiations for complex projects, ensuring compliance and reducing risk across the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Danish Master of Laws (LL.M.) and/or Science (MSc) in Business Administration and Commercial Law, or similar relevant academic degree.
• Minimum 5 years of consolidated experience in complex contract management, commercial, legal and/or project management roles, preferably in infrastructure projects (railway, energy or construction).
• Good understanding of contract and commercial management practices, preferably in complex project environments.
• Ability to interpret and negotiate complex contracts, agreements and procurement documents in a risk-based environment.
• Competence in contractual risk assessment, claims prevention, change management, negotiation support and stakeholder management.
• Ability to translate technical, operational and commercial information into sound contractual positions.
• Good drafting, negotiation and communication skills in both internal and external environments.
• Detail-oriented, pragmatic and solution-focused with strong ethical judgment and commercial awareness.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and stakeholder management skills under time pressure and scrutiny.
• Self-starter with proactive hands-on approach within international and multidisciplinary teams.
• Flexible, adaptable and open to change; capable of managing competing priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Fluency in Danish and English (spoken and written).

Responsibilities

• Contractual negotiation and management of business relationships with customers and sub-contractors, including preparation and managing of contract notices, correspondence, contract changes and claims.
• Coordinate inputs from Project Manager, Scheduler, Procurement, Technical Leads and supporting functions to advance project delivery.
• Maintain contractual records and documentation of key correspondence, status and issues.
• Provide guidance and contract clarification to project teams to minimize risk and maximize commercial opportunities.
• Draft formal project communications and represent the company in meetings.
• Manage claims and variations and liaise with internal and external counsel for dispute files.
• Identify and mitigate contractual, legal and commercial risks, especially for public tenders.
• Prepare memos and documents for internal processes and approvals in cooperation with internal experts.
• Support negotiations with customers and suppliers.
