Job summary

DTU Fødevareinstituttet, Serviceenheden invites applications for a Laboratory Coordinator in Genomic Microbiology to support the Genomic Epidemiology group at DTU Food in Lyngby. The role blends wet-lab work with bioinformatics and cross-border collaboration.

You will perform bacterial culturing, DNA extractions, and long-read sequencing, manage strain collections, and help present data with plots. You will supervise students and researchers in a dynamic, international team.

Qualifications

• Experience in general microbiology including bacterial cultures and handling of microbial specimens.
• Experience with DNA work, PCRs and basic cloning.
• Experience handling sequencing data, mapping and alignment.
• Ability to learn scripting for data analysis and figure generation.
• Strong communication skills with collaborators.

Responsibilities

• Conduct ad hoc laboratory experiments testing bacterial strains under various conditions.
• Perform long read WGS and metagenomic sequencing for projects.
• Carry out DNA extractions and molecular work.
• Manage laboratory equipment and strain collections in freezers.
• Assist in analyzing sequencing data and mapping to databases.
• Present results in printable formats with plots and figures.
• Train and supervise students and guests in laboratory work.
• Collaborate closely with other researchers and partners.
