Job summary

DTU Lyngby Campus seeks a Laboratory Coordinator to lead wet-lab investigations, manage routine lab tasks, assist data analyses, and train students. The role includes bacterial culture work, sequencing (long-read WGS and metagenomics), DNA extractions, and data presentation.

Qualifications

• Experience in general microbiology including bacterial cultures, maintenance, culturing, and cleaning.
• Experience in molecular biology including DNA work, PCRs and cloning.
• Experience in sequencing data handling and analyses (mapping and alignment).
• Ability to learn scripting for data analyses and making figures.
• Excellent communication skills for collaboration with multiple partners.

Responsibilities

• Conduct ad hoc laboratory experiments testing bacterial strains under various environmental conditions (culturing, MIC, AST).
• Perform long-read WGS and metagenomic sequencing for projects and surveillance
• Carry out DNA extractions and other molecular work.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and manage strain collections including large bacterial isolate collections.
• Assist with analyzing sequencing data and mapping reads to databases using aligners like KMA.
• Present data in printable formats with plots and figures.
• Train and supervise students and guests in laboratory work.
• Collaborate daily with the Genomic Epidemiology group and national/international partners.
