Job summary

TM Green Group is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to own the Danish finance function. The role involves accounting, financial reporting, and ensuring robust financial controls for the Danish entity within a fast-growing international group.

You will collaborate with local management, Group Finance, auditors and tax advisers while driving process improvements and accurate monthly/annual reporting.

Qualifications

Job description

We are working with a leading international construction and engineering business specialising in the delivery of complex, high-value projects across the data centre, logistics, advanced manufacturing, pharmaceutical and life sciences sectors.

With operations across Europe and internationally, the business has experienced significant growth in recent years and continues to expand its presence across the Nordic region.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of the Danish finance function, working closely with both local operations and the wider Group Finance team.

The Role

As Financial Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial reporting activities of the Danish entity, ensuring accurate and timely reporting while maintaining strong financial controls.

You will work closely with local management, Group Finance, commercial teams, external auditors and tax advisors, while supporting the continued development of finance processes as the Danish operation grows.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of accounting, finance processes and reporting for the Danish entity.
• Act as the key point of contact for accounting and taxation matters, including VAT and other local tax requirements.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, subcontractor invoices, fixed assets, bank reconciliations and general ledger accounting.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and Group reporting in line with the finance calendar.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and prepayments.
• Manage daily bank reconciliations and ensure payments are appropriately approved and processed.
• Maintain the fixed asset register and oversee depreciation postings.
• Work with payroll providers to process payroll journals and ensure relevant tax payments are completed accurately and on time.
• Reconcile intercompany balances and manage intercompany invoices and recharges.
• Support the preparation of annual financial statements and ensure compliance with relevant Danish accounting requirements and Group reporting standards.
• Work with senior management on annual budgets, forecasts and longer-term financial planning.
• Produce financial information and reporting for management and board-level review.
• Partner with commercial teams to monitor project profitability and ensure costs are correctly allocated.
• Manage accrued and deferred project income and costs, including WIP and percentage-of-completion accounting.
• Prepare weekly cash-flow forecasts for Group Treasury.
• Support the continued improvement of accounting processes, systems and financial controls.
• Support the development of the local finance function as the Danish business continues to grow.

Person Specification

• Degree or further education in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Qualified or certified accounting background would be advantageous.
• Previous Financial Controller or equivalent accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of Danish GAAP and local accounting standards; UK GAAP and/or IFRS knowledge would be advantageous.
• Strong understanding of Danish taxation, VAT and financial reporting requirements.
• Experience working within an international or Group finance environment would be advantageous.
• Experience with project accounting, WIP and percentage-of-completion accounting is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of ERP/accounting systems.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong general Microsoft Office capability.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Danish language skills strongly preferred.
