Job summary

The LEGO Group is seeking a strategic leader for Sustainable Products & Packaging Strategy to shape our approach to sustainable materials with a focus on resin at our Billund site. In this temporary role you will influence decisions that advance our sustainability ambitions.

You will collaborate with Sustainability, R&D, Procurement and Operations to translate complexity into actionable guidance, balancing environmental goals with business priorities to drive impact at scale.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in sustainability, sustainable materials, strategy, or related field.
• Degree in Business, Engineering, Materials Science, Sustainability or related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of sustainable materials and circularity, preferably plastics/resin.
• Familiarity with feedstocks, recycling, mass balance, certification schemes, and life-cycle assessment.
• Experience developing strategies and presenting to senior decision-makers.
• Strong influencing skills across technical, commercial and sustainability disciplines.
• Experience from a complex global organisation or leading consultancy.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic work on sustainable materials and resin, translating ambitions into pathways and recommendations.
• Assess trade-offs balancing environmental impact, feasibility, scalability and business priorities.
• Develop recommendations for senior leaders on alternative feedstocks, recycling, mass balance, certification and circularity.
• Define positions, standards, policies and principles guiding our approach to sustainable materials.
• Collaborate with Sustainability, R&D, Procurement, Operations to align perspectives and drive progress.
• Monitor developments across the materials value chain and identify opportunities for collaboration and partnerships.
• Ensure our materials strategy remains ambitious, credible and grounded in science, technology and market developments.
• Build networks across industry and initiatives to gain outside-in perspectives.

In this role, you will help shape the LEGO Group's approach to sustainable materials, with a particular focus on resin, influencing strategic decisions that support one of our most important sustainability ambitions.

Please note that no relocation assistance is offered for this position.

Core Responsibilities

• Leading strategic work on sustainable materials and resin, translating sustainability ambitions, emerging technologies and market developments into clear pathways and recommendations
• Assessing complex trade-offs and identifying solutions that balance environmental impact, technical feasibility, scalability, and business priorities
• Developing recommendations and decision materials for senior leaders on topics such as alternative feedstocks, advanced recycling, mass balance, certification, and materials circularity
• Defining positions, standards, policies, and decision‑making principles that guide our approach to sustainable materials
• Collaborating closely with experts across Sustainability, R&D, Procurement, Operations, and other functions to align perspectives and drive progress
• Monitoring developments across the wider materials value chain and identifying opportunities for collaboration and strategic partnerships
• Ensuring our materials strategy remains ambitious, credible, and grounded in the latest science, technology, and market developments
• Building networks and partnerships across industry, value chains and relevant initiatives to accelerate progress and gain outside-in perspectives

Joining the Sustainable Products & Packaging Strategy team, you will help shape one of the LEGO Group's most important sustainability agendas. We bring together environmental, technical, and commercial perspectives to define the strategic choices that support our long-term sustainability ambitions.

In this role, you will work closely with specialists and senior leaders across the business, helping translate complexity into direction and ensuring we make informed decisions on the future of sustainable materials. Your leadership will contribute directly to advancing our sustainability journey and driving meaningful impact at scale.

Do you have what it takes?

We are looking for a strategic and influential leader who combines sustainability expertise with strong business judgement. You excel in navigating ambiguity, challenging conventional thinking and building alignment.

• Extensive relevant experience within sustainability, sustainable materials, strategy, or related fields
• A relevant degree in Business, Engineering, Materials Science, Sustainability, Environmental Science or a related discipline or similar experience
• Strong knowledge of sustainable materials and circularity, ideally with expertise in plastics and resin systems
• Familiarity with topics such as alternative feedstocks, advanced recycling, mass balance, certification schemes, and life-cycle assessment
• Experience developing strategies, positions and recommendations on complex sustainability topics and presenting them to senior decisionmakers
• Strong influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical, commercial and sustainability disciplines
• Experience from a complex global organisation and/or a leading management consultancy
• Excellent analytical, communication and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate complex technical topics into clear and actionable insights
