Job summary

GoWish is looking for a Backend Engineer to join Product Engineering. You will own backend features end-to-end, design and evolve GraphQL APIs with TypeScript, and collaborate with a cross-functional team. You will ensure robust data handling with SQL databases and interact with internal and external APIs.

The role emphasizes independent work, strong ownership, and delivering high-quality backend services while aligning with product goals and long-term maintainability.

Qualifications

• Experience with backend development in JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience designing GraphQL APIs and backend systems.
• Strong understanding of SQL databases and data modeling.

Responsibilities

• Own backend features and services end-to-end, from design to production delivery.
• Design, implement and evolve GraphQL APIs and backend systems.
• Make sound technical decisions balancing short-term delivery with long-term maintainability.
• Ensure code quality, readability and correctness.
• Review pull requests and provide constructive feedback.
• Communicate progress, risks and trade-offs proactively.
• Work independently on complex tasks within the team.
• Integrate with internal/external APIs and manage data.
• Identify gaps and improvement opportunities and act on them.
• Operate effectively in a small team with high ownership.
